Project 1 - Third year

The first project of the final year had the brief of designing a hotel guest room. We were given our specific site which we were not informed of the exact location but given plan and elevation drawings. My chosen design concept was 'Escaping Reality', I wanted to create a a hotel room which was as far from the norm as possible, most hotels are like going into somebody else's home and staying there, this is not the purpose of going to a hotel it is to experience a new surrounding totally different to what we are used to. By using objects that are abundant in the world, that we see everyday and probably do not acknowledge in my design for example shipping containers, wooden pallets, containers and scaffolding they can used together to create two self contained apartments that use these objects in a different light making it possible for the guest to experience a whole new way of staying in a hotel. The image below is a section and plan of the site which i created on vectorworks showing my proposed design.
